Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings contain 0.5% Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB), a bacteria-killing polymer. Highly effective and safe, PHMB attacks bacteria on and within the dressing, limiting cross-contamination and helping to provide a bacteria-free wound healing environment.
Indications: Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings are indicated for use in management of:
- Post-surgical incisions
- Pressure ulcers
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Diabetic ulcers
- Donor sites
- Abrasions
- Lacerations
- 1st and 2nd degree burns
- Dermatologic disorders
- Other wounds inflicted by trauma
- As a secondary dressing or cover dressing for packed wounds
Applying Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings:
- Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures
- Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly
- Select the dressing which will provide a minimum of a 2 inch (5 cm) foam margin around the edges of the wound. If necessary cut the dressing to size to ensure a smooth, continuous fit with the skin surface
- Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressings should be applied with the white side touching the dressing site or with the topsheet facing up
- Place Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam dressing onto the wound surface and hold in place by covering with adhesive tape or an appropriate secondary dressing
- The dressing should be changed when signs of saturation become visible along the edge of the dressing or whenever good nursing practice dictates
