Dressings-Iodine-Inadine

Iodine has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and is highly effective against bacteria including MRSA, fungi, protozoa and viruses. Preparations containing Cadexomer Iodine ( Iodoflex and Iodosorb ) release free iodine when exposed to wound exudate and the Cadexomer absorbs wound exudate and encourages desloughing.

Inadine dressings contain 10% Povidone Iodine and are suitable for the management of infection in minor burns, ulcers, and minor skin injuries. This orange color knitted dressing is easy to remove from the skin or wound’s surface. It is advisable not to use it on patients who are sensitive to iodine or povidone-iodine. In case, large quantities of exudates are produced, then change the dressing daily, but if the wound is relatively dry, the interval between changes may be extended.
